– First Girindus Oligonucleotide Symposium – An Outstanding Success
– The Governor of Ohio, Bob Taft, opened the Symposium and dedicated the New Large-Scale Oligonucleotide Production Facility
Bensberg, March 15, 2005 – On March 9, 2005, Girindus AG, listed in the Prime Segment of the German Stock Exchange - focused on process development and manufacturing of drug actives for the worldwide pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry, held its first international oligonucleotide symposium in Cincinnati, Ohio, with resounding success.
Participants and speakers from various countries participated in the event. The lecture program included a series of presentations that provided an overview of current developments and the most recent therapy options using oligonucleotides. The conference confirmed the role of oligonucleotides in the battle against cancer, viral infections and infectious diseases. Girindus is one of the leading manufacturers of therapeutic oligonucleotides under the name of GirOligoTM.
The governor of Ohio, Bob Taft, opened the symposium. He mentioned how important the commitment to research and development of companies such as Girindus was to the state of Ohio and to the Cincinnati area.
Following his introductory remarks, the Governor personally dedicated Girindus' new large-scale oligonucleotide production facilities. The ceremony concluded with a tour of the plant during which Fritz Link, the Chairman of the Girindus AG Management Board, and Robert F. Link, his Deputy, introduced Bob Taft to the newest technology in oligonucleotide production.
At the conclusion of the event Robert F. Link said "We were asked to repeat this event on an annual basis and due to the very positive response on the part of all participants will be delighted to do so".
